Wash and prep the kale.

Heat pan to medium. Add olive oil and the garlic. Cook and stir until sizzling, about 1 minute. Add the kale (and potentially 1/2 to 3/4 cup water) and cover.

Cook, stirring occasinally, until the kale is bright green and slightly tender, about 5 to 7 minutes.

Note: If after trying this the first time, if the kale is underdone and not adequately tender, add some water when the kale goes in in the future so it braises slightly.
